Bio
Jeremy Kintigh, PhD
I worked with Dr. Jacobine while a teaching assistant at the University of New Hampshire. Alex was a tremendous help in setting up the lab, teaching the students, and grading. During this time in teaching Alex was also able to make consistent progress in graduate research, winning a number of awards, and presenting his work at national meetings. Alex has great expertise in organic synthesis and is able to produce reliable, consistent results. I would highly recommended him for either an academic or industrial position.
Christopher Hencken
Alex and I worked together in the Posner group at Johns Hopkins for over a year. As a post-doctoral research associate, his knowledge of organic/medicinal chemistry and experimental techniques were very good. He worked on the malaria drug discovery project where he made several significant contributions. He also worked on the selenium method project that led to his J. Org. Chem. publication on rhodanines. Alex was a friendly coworker and a valuable asset to our research group and his communication and organizational skills, work ethic, and his creative problem-solving abilities made Alex a pleasure to work with.

Advisor: Professor Charles K. Zercher -Organozinc synthetic methodology towards oxygen and nitrogen heterocycles -Synthesis of β-proline derivatives and other amino acid substrates -Synthetic methodology project focused around an unprecedented oxidation of hemiketals to gain access to a family of naturally occurring γ-lactones known as paraconic acids. Additionally, one diastereomer of phaseolinic acid was synthesized in the shortest sequence reported in the literature. Advisor: Professor Charles K.
