We simplified complex paper processes using technology, empowering customers with valuable data and helping them make informed decisions and prioritize daily tasks. As the first and only product designer, I established a streamlined visual language for the existing UI while gaining domain knowledge. Taking full ownership of the user interface and product experience, I worked strategically, analytically, and cross-functionally to solve user problems, meet customer needs, and drive sustainable backend scalability. During my time at claimsforce, the quality of the UX drove the buying decision for 75% of our clients. Throughout this journey, I navigated team growth and downsizing, gaining expertise in managing people, scaling operations, and adapting to uncertainty. To ensure consistency in UI and UX, I collaborated with front-end developers to create a design system. I also developed onboarding handbooks and toolkits, enabling non-designers to contribute and validate ideas and facilitating product scalability and the design process. ⚡️ My key takeaway from this experience was overcoming the fear of asking questions, finding alternative and cheap ways to learn and encouraging others to do the same. Each team member should strive to develop a deep understanding of the business, customers, and users and eliminate assumptions. It's important to embrace uncertainty and continue learning. Additionally, I discovered that my work has a more significant impact when collaborating closely with my team, especially in triads, whenever possible. Show less

I transitioned into a UI designer role, primarily supporting the website and web product's rebranding efforts and collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, Copy, and Legal. In 2015, Paypal acquired Xoom Corp., leading to further growth. During this phase, I served as the Principal Product Designer for two of the three primary services. ⚡️ I learned to collaborate closely with developers and product owners, engaging all stakeholders throughout the product development cycle, from kick-off to production release. I also learned about essential product artifacts, including user stories, journeys, prototypes, wireframes, and mockups, to effectively communicate requirements and facilitate smooth handovers to developers. The event garnered widespread participation from national universities and extended support to Central American design students. As organizers, we successfully positioned ourselves in the creative scene. We secured sponsorship to establish a design collective dedicated to promoting the PechaKucha format in the city and discovering impactful creative voices. I actively contributed as an organizer for the first three volumes on 05.2012, 10.2012 and 06.2013 ⚡️ I developed professional communication skills and collaborated with passionate individuals, embracing diverse personalities, perspectives, and work styles. The experience enhanced my ability to organize top-notch events and negotiate commercial agreements. Above all, it instilled in me a belief in my capabilities and the untapped potential of my country. Show less

Volunteers would dedicate a weekend to build houses and engage closely with these families. In my role, I: - Regularly participated in house-building camps. - Directed the organization of camps that included social studies to identify families most in need, handled logistics for material distribution and tools, and led the camps to ensure volunteer safety and facilitate reflection activities. - Contributed to the communication team, managing social media, creating content, and running campaigns for Guatemala and Latin America. ⚡️ This life experience greatly influenced my personal and professional journey. I gained a valuable understanding that everyone is doing their best with the resources available to them. It taught me how to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and knowledge bases effectively. I developed skills in project management, time and resource allocation, conducting field research, and leading teams. Above all, it instilled in me the importance of never settling, prioritizing effective communication, and ensuring all parties are heard in problem-solving processes. Show less
