I worked as a chemical engineer with specialist interest in biological wastewater treatment for the Water and Sewage Company of the municipality of Katerini, in Northern Greece. The post was advertised as a fixed term contract, commencing in January 2018 with an initial duration of six months, with possible extension. My duties included all the needed chemical analysis of the income and outcome waste water to the plant. I had to control the process to the planning procedure, and to communicate to the shift supervisor of the plant any problems that came up. During the period of I worked in Katerini I managed to get an overall idea of the waste water treatment procedure. Show less

    • Chemical Engineer
      • 2012 - 2017

I was working as a chemical engineer for 5 years for the Water and Sewage Company of the Municipality of Volos, in central Greece. My employment with them started in 2012, with renewable fixed term contracts until 2016, while I continue offering my services in 2017 on a voluntary basis (lack of funding). My specialist interest was the supervision and running of the water filtering unit via the reverse osmosis process. My duties included the supervision of the three water filtering units (total power 210m3/h) as the responsible engineering officer. The supervision included day to day management followed by record keeping of all actions, while I was preparing regular, graphical presentations of the function of the units. I was also responsible for the ordering and replacement of any chemical consumables in the system, making sure the hygiene standards were met. As the responsible officer, I was running regular checks on the function of the meter pumps and made sure consumables were ordered and replaced as required. This included the testing of the high pressure pumps, the testing for corrosion of the metal pipes and the regular checks of appropriate function of all monitoring devices. My ultimate responsibility was to perform regular sampling of the filtered water product, and adjust/replace the chemical filtering membranes (acid vs alkaline) and water filters as deemed appropriate. During these five years of employment, I was often available for out-of-hours intervention if required, especially during the higher demand season (June to January) of each year. Show less

My specialist interest was the supervision of the production line of liquid cleaning products such as the Dixan, Neomat, Proderm. I was also a responsible duty officer for the sulfuric acid process and the production of two detergent products, an acid and an alkaline. This automated production process needed electronic controls and direct visual inspections that were carried out regularly in a rolling Rota. The products were then stored in large barrels of 120-240Lt, and my duties included appropriate documentation, record keeping and accountability for meeting the safety standards. Show less
