As a Boren Fellow I worked as an Editor/ Translator/ Adviser at the Chinese Journal of International Politics (CJIP) and the World Peace Forum (WPF) at Tsinghua University's (top school in China) Institute of Modern International Relations (IMIR). As the Editor at CJIP I edited, researched and helped write articles on issues related to Chinese foreign policy and relations with other countries. As the only non-Chinese staff member at the WPF I acted as an adviser in meetings providing a Western/ Amercian perspective. I helped decide what topics would be covered in this year’s forum and wrote the summary and questions that would be posed in each panel. I also played an important role in correspondence with all non-Chinese participants in the WPF including current and former leaders from around the world as well as the media. I also insured that all translations, including my own, were accurate. June 26 and 27 of this year the WPF was successively held hosting leaders from all over the world including Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao. Finally, I worked closely with the Dean of IMIR, Yan Xuetong (one of the most influential academics in China directly influencing Chinese Foreign Policy), on various papers on Sino-US relations and the shift in the world center.
