I investigated the effects of the 1990's Structural Adjustment Program on the international trade of Cameroon's cocoa and coffee. The withdrawal of the government from the cocoa and coffee value chain, negatively impacted production and quality, which was directly felt by the small holder farmers. Produce quality deteriorated and let to loss of the quality premium that the country previously enjoyed on the international market.
