Bio
Alex Martinson
Ben and I worked together at US Architects for nearly three years. During that time, Ben was always helpful with projects regardless of what needed to be done. Ben's expertise with Photoshop was a HUGE help in the office and pushed me to learn more about the program. When Ben was working on a project and didn't fully understand what was needed or how to detail a specific condition, he always asked questions and sought to learn more at every opportunity. Ben is definitely team-oriented and is incredibly level-headed. He has terrific design sensibility, but also understands the practical elements of building construction.
Robert J. Koester
Ben was a dedicated student in our Graduate Archotecture Program. He participated in a collaborative design team submission that received special recognition in the National 2010 Leading Edge Design Competition. His individual thesis work involved interactions with real clients in an under-resourced, economically depressed neighborhood. His scheme envisioned a significant bootstrap approach to community revitalization, job creation/training and local economic development; not to mention the community goodwill and networking to be derived from his project implementation. He fashioned a modulated design scheme that could be phased into reality over time. Ben was easy to work with, responsive to critique, maintained excellent relationships with the community reps, built a sensible schedule for production of his thesis project and completed his work on time. He will contribute significantly to the field of architecture.

For one week at a time, I would watch over, teach and entertain groups of 10-12 year old at risk kids from the surrounding areas of California. I received many lessons in effective leadership, conflict resolution and impromptu problem solving.
