Yume is a mobile application that aims to reduce food waste in cafes and restaurants by facilitating either donations or discounted sales of unsold or surplus food. Restaurants use the application to schedule pickups of the excess food by Non-Profit Organisations. This project aimed at re-designing the experience for Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) by making the application easier to sign up, search for food and pick up food.To solve the problem, I:● Identified the real issues behind the problem which differed from the client’s original thoughts● Interviewed Yume staff who deal with the NPOs and their employees to understand the current process and pain points● Synthesised the information to create personas and journey maps to identify both primary and secondary personas● Performed competitor and comparative analyses to set the benchmarks● Ideated, created wireframes and prototypes. After testing with users, iterated according to feedbackOutcome:Our team of 3 produced a much simpler yet functional, high-fidelity wire-frame (Axure) and a full report which was delivered within a two-week timeframe. The project outcome highlight was identifying that instead of all users downloading the application, the NPO employee would be the main user who would then print out or forward a confirmation of reservation via a text message to a volunteer driver to collect the food.
