      • May 2020 - Present

I am continuing my research with NASA regarding biofilm prevention using coatings. In August 2020 I started my graduate classes for my PhD in Chemical Engineering. My research focuses on the use of antimicrobial coatings to prevent or reduce biofilm accumulation in the wastewater tank of the International Space Station.

      • Aug 2019 - May 2020

I worked under a grant through the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA to evaluate biofilm growth of International Space Station bacterial isolates. I grew these isolates in CDC Biofilm Reactors and evaluated how various materials and coatings may influence the growth of biofilms.

      • Nov 2017 - Aug 2019

I worked in the Standardized Biofilm Methods Laboratory where the aim is to create ASTM approved methods to grow and observe biofilms. I worked with industry to test treatments and preventative chemicals. My initial research focused on multispecies biofilms and how they react to simple disinfectant treatments. I also was one of the main researchers working to develop a new biofilm reactor and protocol. During my last summer in the lab, worked to develop a model for catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) due to biofilm growth up a urinary catheter. Show less

    • Caterer
      • Jan 2017 - Dec 2017

With catering I worked behind the scenes as well as in the front of house to prepare and serve food to various clients around campus. During my year with University Catering, I served high profile events, including the President's box at Bobcat Stadium where I worked closely with President Cruzado, state senators, state representatives, and important donors during the 2017 football season. • Seasonal Waitress
      • May 2016 - Aug 2017

As a waitress I worked closely with my team members to ensure a pleasant dining experience to our guests. The restaurant is just down the street from Red Rocks Amphitheater, so it drew quite a crowd during the summer. My responsibilities included greeting guests, taking food/drink orders, preparing salads/drinks/desserts, and serving food. During rushes, the entire restaurant functioned using a higher level of teamwork than normal, leading to an increased need for communication and cooperation between all positions of the staff. I was selected for a 100 hour internship through Executive High School Internship. During my time at Mines I assisted in researching controlled drug release using mesoporous nanoparticles. I gained experience in synthesizing and analyzing materials using multiple techniques such as BET analysis. I was selected for a 100 hour internship through Executive High School Internship. When I worked in the various non-waitress positions at the restaurant, I was essentially a support system for the bartenders and waitresses. I greeted guests, served food when needed, and cleared tables of dishes. I was often the first and last person that the guests came in contact with, so I always did my best to develop positive relationships and leave a good impression.
