    • Event Manager
      • Jul 2013 - Feb 2022

Running an event night involves being on site for the duration of the evening with a number of key duties. I have been working on and off in this tile for several years as the work is on an as and when basis. Handling customer queries face to face is essential and resolving any issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. Information is later fed back to head office so follow up work can be completed. Cash collection is perhaps the most essential part of the role, the amount paid by each team must be recorded and later added up, input into the online system and taken to the bank. I need to be 'on the ball' to ensure each match always has enough equipment available which often means collecting and redistributing footballs on a regular basis. An Event Manager is responsible for ensuring there are enough referees on site and overseeing and assessing their performance. I must also ensure the premises are locked at the end of the night and floodlights switched off. Finally results and financial information is input into the online system, this requires attention to detail as an error can lead to complaints and finance errors. Show less

    • Event Delivery Manager
      • Jun 2016 - Jul 2018

Under the Powerleague Umbrella, Powerplay deliver weekly sports events across the UK, I was promoted to a management due to recognition of my excellent service skills in the field. I was responsible for a field based team of around 200 staff ensuring excellent service is offered at every event. Due to my strong relationship with Powerplay I still carry out some event work for Powerplay on a weekly basis. • I was tasked with organising event staff including league managers and referees for weekly match nights across the country. • As line manager I was responsible for ensuring event staff had everything they needed to run a successful, profitable event also delivering online and in person training to new and existing staff. • A further part of my role included the ordering and delivery of event stock, every event requires various equipment to go ahead, I monitored stock levels for all events and consulted with league managers regarding the level of equipment ordered per event and considered the cost against the budget. • I also had regular communication with several departments within the company such as Payroll, Accounts, Operations and Sales as well as working with external partners. • Sales And Marketing Specialist
      • Jul 2014 - Jun 2016

Due to my success supporting the Sales team I was transferred to the department full time. I was primarily responsible for recruiting players and teams for weekly, small sided football leagues across the UK. This involves using various marketing strategies, cold calling, following up leads and sending informative, incentivised emails. I was also involved with the marketing presence of the company handling social media accounts such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as well as dealing with SEO. We would use our contacts within the industry to offer incentives for new teams such as free kits or boots and I would then source and distribute where appropriate being careful to stick to a budget agreed with the senior leadership team. To assist with sourcing new teams I regularly organised Charity football tournaments before encouraging entering teams to sign up to the weekly event at the venue. Here I would take sole responsibility and was responsible for everything from customer identification, generation of leads into sales and devising fixtures for the Event. Show less

Whilst working in an office based role at Powerplay I was keen to carry out some customer facing work due to my passion for customer service. The idea of working behind a bar appealed to me as something I hadn't done before. I used my contacts at the sports club to find a casual role which worked around my full time work and other voluntary commitments. I worked 1-2 evenings a week pouring and serving drinks as well as snacks to customers. I was also responsible for maintaining stock levels and emptying the tills at the end of the evening. Although I didn't work at the club long I thoroughly enjoyed it. Show less

      • Dec 2010 - May 2013

My enthusiasm for my job, fantastic customer service skills and likeability were just a few factors resulting in my promotion to Team Leader. Initially in the role on a part time basis whilst studying I was offered the position on a full time basis after graduating. I was later offered the chance to advance to the Options Management Programme again showing my hard working, customer focused attitude. There was however more to the role than just offering great customer service; for example ensuring all cashiers are trained to the appropriate levels and all legal practices were followed, ensuring all equipment was in full working order, and if not following the necessary to steps to rectify the issue. Furthermore it was vital that I communicated messages to staff as quickly as possible and I also worked towards various targets set by the company such as customer queuing time and cashier scan rate. I regularly handled large amounts of cash, carrying out regular till checks and working in the cash office, dealing with till shortages when required. I also handled scheduling issues ensuring my team were given their lunch breaks at suitable times but not leaving the department short. It was also part of my role to fill overtime shifts whilst ensuring the budget was not exceeded. My success in this position shows I am organised, trustworthy and reliable. Although this was done with the help of my colleagues sometimes, I was left to carry out these tasks alone meaning I showed initiative and prioritise my work. Show less

      • Sep 2006 - Dec 2010

I started at Tesco on a part time basis whilst studying my A-Levels, initially working two evenings a week and picking up overtime shifts where possible. I worked across multiple departments including Bakery, Dairy, Grocery, Stock Control, the Petrol Filling Station and on Checkouts. Working in retail was something I really enjoyed as I love working with the public. I would carry out tasks such as merchandising products, reducing items with short use by dates and ensuring the shop floor was presentable. The most important part of my role was however, delivering exceptional service to customers. Show less

I am a qualified swimming instructor and taught children of around 8 years old to swim for four hours per week. It was important that I planned and evaluated my sessions in order to suit the individual needs and progress the sessions to develop the children’s potential to its maximum. I gained the trust of each pupil, developing a relationship with them which made me more approachable. I take personal satisfaction from sharing my knowledge with others and this was no exception.
