      I started as an Assistant Planner and then added Sanitarian to my duties (see below). Then in November I became the Director of the newly named Department of Planning, Zoning & Environment. In addition to my existing duties from the previous positions, I have now become the Zoning and Subdivision Administrator, Floodplain Manager, and will manage County leadership's updating efforts to the County Comprehensive Plan over the next two years. As well as the technical aspects of the Department, I also perform the office operations, including budget building and management, accounting and invoicing, department coordination, and outreach efforts. My plans for 2015 include building a team to better serve County residents, investing in digital and archiving processes, constructing work plans, obtaining Certified Floodplain Manager status, and begin the County Comprehensive Plan updating process.       Since the Fall 2014 semester I have been teaching G-CM: 218 Business and Professional Communications at McPherson College in McPherson, KS. The course is designed to assist students with enhancing their personal communication development; identifying the communication challenges, skills, forms, and procedures in transitioning from college to the work place; and preparing them for the employment and interview process. The course is required for students in the Business School, but is open to all majors and grade levels. This fall I have also started serving as a faculty advisor to Etch, the student-ran marketing, design, and communications firm providing a select group of Bulldogs the opportunity to earn credit, gain experience, and pad their resumes by providing services for clients in the real world. This is an amazing opportunity for undergraduate students to apply firsthand the curriculum from their design, marketing, accounting, and business management classes. Show less
