Payton Millinor is a determined, caring, and passionately elaborate instructor and advisor who brings out the best of anyone she advises so that they can learn and grow. Faced to the future, Millinor helped me develop through my academic career and personal problems to show me that I could become something better and that the world has something for me to succeed in. That is the purest form of teaching there is. Investing and persevering with a student despite their flawed actions and constant shortcomings. She never told me I was destined for greatness, she pushed me to find this greatness. Looking back I completely understood why she believed in me so much. She knew that if nurtured carefully enough, the untouched greatness of a student can shine through. Millinor is an amazing advisor, teacher, and friend so I recommend her for any position dealing with people and professional development.

Peyton is an organized intuitive person who handles stress and difficulties with patience and poise. I had the opportunity to work with Peyton on several projects during our coursework at The University of Georgia. She was a diligent student who kept our group working and on track.

My experience as an educator stretches over fifteen years, two public school districts and one private school, a Master’s degree, a School Improvement Grant, Title I implementation, and three distinct STEM certifications. Most recently, I have served as an English teacher, STEM coordinator, AP coordinator, gifted coordinator, and Academic GHP coordinator. My experiences have helped to develop a toolbox that consists of, but is not limited to: creating comprehensive schedules and testing plans; developing courses of study; writing grants and award applications (often with a short turnaround time); collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing data; planning events; writing curriculum; composing interdisciplinary units of study; developing community partnerships; and, managing a team of over thirty teachers. My efforts in these and other initiatives have resulted in astonishing accomplishments, including: three STEM certifications (from the GADOE, AdvancEd, and the National Instistute for STEM Education); over $162,000 in grants, awards, and sponsorships; three Gates Millennium Scholars; three QuestBridge Scholars; four GHP participants in the area of engineering; the Technology Association of Georgia’s STEM Education Award; two Google Gravity Games Championships; FIRST Robotics’ Creativity, Team Spirit, and Engineering Design awards; and the opportunity to present at state and local conferences.
