Bio
Sylvain-Jacques Desjardins
As a graduate of Concordia University and a current PhD candidate at McGill University, Robert-Paul Juster has an impressive resume. He’s published dozens of papers in peer-reviewed journals — far more than most graduate students or a fact I've confirmed by promoting the work of graduate students at three major universities. Juster has designed, overseen and synthesized the results of complex research projects that have garnered international media coverage, notably his studies on stress and burn-out. In the fall of 2010, Juster and his graduate supervisor at Louis-H. Lafontaine and the Fernand Séguin research centres became the first from their institutions to be featured on the front-page of The Globe and Mail (a Saturday edition no less). Juster’s ability to translate scientific findings into lay language is one of his biggest assets. Indeed, he’s co-edited a publication called Mammoth Magazine, where he succeeded in making research accessible and compelling to the general public as well as potential donors. His insight into people is among his greatest assets as are his attention to detail and his gregarious nature.

Robert-Paul is an excellent science communicator - on one hand, he has an innate sense of what facts are engaging and important for the public, and on the other, his energy and sincere interest in his field lend a special dynamic to his self expression. Robert-Paul also understands the priorities of professional communicators (PR and Media) and is able to work accordingly. His skills, knowledge and his enthusiasm enabled me to garner exceptional media coverage for the University of Montreal.
