Aug 2018 - May 2019
One of twelve Fellows selected for a graduate-level, experiential leadership training program that prepares diverse, talented, and committed individuals for effective and ethical leadership in public affairs. Completed consulting projects across nonprofit, public, corporate, labor, and campaign sectors, in addition to 20 hours per week of training in project management, conflict resolution, and facilitation. Consultancy responsibilities: - Drafted a series of white papers for Ascension, the largest nonprofit health network in the nation. Each paper documents care delivery challenges and highlights policy avenues to address those challenges. Brief topics covered a broad range of health care topics, from rural health access to prescription drug pricing. - Created a workforce development plan for Thermo Fisher Scientific, addressing the need for a long-term pipeline of skilled talent in bioengineering and microchemistry in the St. Louis region. In order to maximize the long-term success of the plan, I helped form a coalition of regional life science companies, nonprofits, higher education institutions, and community colleges committed to this work. - Managed canvassing outreach to more than 12,000 voters in a Missouri State Senate race. This process included drafting campaign materials and coordinating campaign volunteers to distribute those materials. - Organized four fundraising events that generated $76,300 in donations for the Guardian Angel Settlement Association, a St. Louis-based nonprofit. - Conducted a complete audit of all physical assets held by the City of Brentwood, MO. After finishing the audit, I developed a strategic plan to coordinate long-term tracking of assets across departments. Show less

Aug 2013 - Dec 2013
I served as an intern and writer for the Project On Government Oversight (POGO), a non-partisan, nonprofit watchdog that shines a light on corruption and mismanagement in the government. While at POGO, I published numerous articles highlighting the revolving door between Wall Street and the SEC. Working on projects with other staff members, I conducted a number of research projects, including into FDA regulations and defense spending. Continuing POGO's ongoing investigation into foreign lobbying of Congress, I visited the Department of Justice weekly to collect information from Freedom of Information releases. Finally, I helped coordinate whistleblower management. My articles, which appeared in print and online, can be read here: http://www.pogo.org/about/board-staff/blog-contributors/jamie-neikrie.html Show less
