As a Senior Data Scientist working within the Data Analytics and Service Redesign team, my role is to create and manage models to determine value for money outcomes for government, and forecast the State's finances. Across my career at Treasury, I have been involved in projects relating to justice, child protection, disability services and the transport sector.Key Projects:- Developed a discrete event simulation model of the WA Justice sector, in order to estimate the downstream impact of policy initiatives and future trends and demands on the justice system. This model was created using R, and is hosted as a Shiny application.- Analytical support for the Target 120 program using the Social Investment Data Resource (SIDR). The SIDR is a de-identified linked administrative database consisting of datasets from various government agencies. I have developed products using the SIDR to assist the program, such as lifetime cost analysis of program participants using actuarial techniques, a risk assessment tool for potential candidates using Generalised Linear Models and a tool to actively monitor program participant outcomes.- Maintain the Department of Communities cost and demand model, to accurately forecast the financial implications of changes in the cost and demand profiles of the agency, and to model policy scenarios to provide financial advice to government.
