It was a pleasure studying with Rohan at the University of Guelph. He not only excelled in his studies but put an equal importance on extra- cirruclaur activies such as writing for the student website and was involved in the student government. He spent most of his university career living on campus as a Resident Assistant helping first year students get settled into univeristy life and also mentoring them for the years to come. I've had the opportunity to meet a number of his students and they all felt that he was extremely rescourseful with on-campus issues and his international exposure peaked their curiosity in global affairs.

Rohan was meticulous in the chemical extraction process in his laboratory. He also kept detailed records of the processes as per the standard operating procedures.

Recent policy measures have made available dedicated public funding for costly end of life treatments offering limited health gains. My project will seek to understand the normative and moral claims which form the basis for different perceptions of value provided by drugs for terminal disease. Additionally, I question if the Quality Adjusted Life Year (QALY) metric for resource allocation is capable of incorporating such subjectivity despite its distributional deficiencies. This study will also add to the methodological research on how public preferences on such an issue can be captured by exploring the potential for using Q methodology in health economics, and if the subjective insights derived through this technique can be used to inform more empirical preference-elicitation methods. An investigation into the use of such a combined approach would distinctly add to the development of an empirical ethics framework for policy making in healthcare. Show less

Obtaining sponsors and raising funds from the private/public/government agencies for the inaugural Canadian Science Policy Conference. This conference represents a measured first step towards building a robust science policy network in Canada. Such a system will be critical for producing the next generation of policy-makers who understand S&T issues, as well as scientists who understand how to integrate their research into a broader societal context for the benefit of all Canadians.
