Community manager for Serbian Counter-Strike Channel
-
Mar 2010 - Dec 2011
Community manager for Counter-Strike 1.6 channel. Community management, resource management, server management, website coding for a simple end-user experience and usage. The community was based out of Counter-Strike players that were competing for rewards. Ten best players would be rewarded at the end of each month. At one point (near April 2011), the channel, had reached about 1500 unique competitors and users, actively competing for rewards. The community at that point was managed with 30 in-game and forum/community moderators. The project functioned by gathering players over an IRC channel and transitioning them using private messaging to a Linux based dedicated Counter-Strike 1.6 server. Players would then compete in a match (5vs5 form factor) and get points based on their personal performance in the match. Players could view their rankings on a custom made website and involve themselves in the community via an integrated forum board. The project also included a safety precaution, a custom made Anti-cheat application that monitored the Task manager and actively took screenshots at random intervals of players in-game. It also had a hash scanner based on MD5 Hash, that was actively scanning Task-manager for banned applications, in case that some were detected - the player was automatically banned and removed from the game. The application also communicated with the server to transmit logs and checked if the user had its Anti-Cheat on while playing games or when applying to them via IRC. In case the application wasn't on the player was removed from the game. The moderator team was based on several groups of people, respectively split up into following groups (each group had up to 2 team captains respectively): Forum/Community content managers, Anti-Cheat team, Game Masters, Linux Administrators.
