I had the distinct pleasure of working with Wyatt Franks in the Strategy Planning and Analysis group (SPA) for FedEx Services. The SPA is a small group that provides strategic and tactical support for the office of FedEx's CIO and the IT department at large. Wyatt and I were specifically tasked with research and analysis of FedEx's technology position within the transportation industry and other comparable industries. Other duties included providing research services to the IT organization and supporting operational and sales professionals both domestically and internationally. As a senior member of the group, I was originally asked to provide guidance and direction to Wyatt as he supported our primary objectives. Wyatt is extremely bright, motivated and skilled at performing complex analyses. Wyatt quickly added value to our team and was able to work independently and with great proficiency. He routinely met with and on occasion presented at the highest levels of the FedEx Services organization. While I miss Wyatt’s support and counsel in the SPA group, I am very excited to see him extend his academic credentials and will watch his career with great interest. I wholeheartedly recommend Wyatt and feel that he will add tremendous value to any endeavor, whether it is academic or professional.
