PERFORMANCE AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS • Launched multiple query optimizations to reduce load on constrained hardware, providing additional months of useful life while cloud migration efforts continued. • Refactored to reduce "log chatter" through stricter implementations, cut log noise 90%. • Spearheaded transition to strict “launch windows.” Minimizing launches during peak hours reduced post-deploy rollback and hotfix ratio by over half. • Introduced Sprint Poker Planning (issue points) to allow developers to estimate level of effort for feature development, and enable the business side to select priorities based on sprint bandwidth and throughput. • Built GitLab Pipeline for CI/CD flow to manage transition from feature to review to staging to deployment with one-click rollback. • Reduced local environment setup from 3-10 days (depending on dev experience) to minutes. • Created a formal presentation to secure developer and business approval. Simultaneously refactored legacy code, which did not properly handle UTC date boundaries, allowing the banner to work in news markets across multiple time zones (generally visible weekdays at noon at http://newyork.cbslocal.com/). • Refactored an existing audio player into a jQuery plugin which interfaced with a third-party SDK, and rendered two variations of the player for use in templates and with WordPress shortcodes (http://kroq.radio.com/audio/the-kevin-bean-show-on-kroq/). • Refactored list for recently played songs to consume new vendor API, replacing clumsy URL query-based navigation with AJAX-based loading (http://kroq.radio.com/playlist/). • Performed site-wide font audit and refactor requiring significant coordination with design and QA • Completed dozens of bug/feature issues by committing to Git, converting the changes to SVN, and deploying via Python within the WordPress VIP managed environment.
