Calvin Walker was a student in my Spring 2009 Health Information Systems class at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. He demonstrated analytical rigor and a deep understanding of relevant issues. Calvin showed competence in data and workflow planning and IT implementation dynamics in health services organizations. During the course of the semester in my class, he finished a project for Piedmont Hospital’s transplant clinic, which was implemented to very positive reviews. As a result of networking in my class, Calvin secured a position as a student intern with the Georgia Department of Community Health, Office of Health Information Technology & Transparency. During that time, he developed a break-even analysis model for the state-wide electronic health record (EHR) implementation project. He also gained valuable experience regarding health care policies at the federal state and local levels. I have had other occasions to observe Calvin, and have been happy with his professional development over the years. I highly recommend him.

I have known Calvin Walker for over 8 years and have watched him grow both personally and professionally. Calvin has extreme intelligence, great insight regarding people and ideas, and a logical thought process that he uses to help generate improvements in processes. Calvin is very creative and thinks outside of the box at all times. In addition, he has demonstrated excellent powers of observation and has great communication skills. After analyzing all aspects of a situation whether it be logistically or financially Calvin has the skill sets to not only understand the impact both immediately and long term to the business but is able to devise a plan and execute on them.
