Director and producer of all of Breakthrough’s annual and multiple national conferences (the Breakthrough Dialogues), and all other events (in-person and virtual) that convene various groups of environmentalists, technologists, policy makers, and scientists on the forefront of accessible tools to fight climate change and the global food crisis. In the time that she has been at Breakthrough she has more than tripled the events' fundraising program through her passion for cultivating connections wherever she is able. Thia works closely with Breakthrough's Board - as well as funders - and leads the Institute's network in the organization of meetings, workshops, panel discussions, and other summits nationally and internationally. Duties include: • Overseeing and expanding BTI's events program including managing an annual budget of close to $1million; • Organizing, designing, and executing annual events, including guest lists, invitations, speakers, content, and visuals; • Negotiating contracts from start to finish with contractors, conference centers (BEOs / Sales), and all related vendors; • Leading the events-team and inspiring colleagues and to achieve their highest potential to serve the organization from an events perspective; • Managing and executing various other events throughout the year including meetings, workshops, donor events, VIP dinners, smaller scale conferences, and internal retreats; • Planning events with partners in DC, New York, Silicon Valley and internationally; • Developing and managing events budgets including providing budget updates to Operations Director and Executive Director; • Single-handedly building out BTI's Virtual Event Program in 2020 which included certifications in digital event planning, COVID safety, different streaming platforms, etc. • Working with fundraising and event consultants and vendors; collaborating closely with everyone on staff to ensure our network continues to grow - both from a financial and academic side;
