    • HEART 2 HOPE Inc. DIRECTOR
      • Feb 2012 - Dec 2015

The Heart2Hope Inc, is an incorporated founded in 2012. The purpose of this organisation is primarily to seek out potential grassroots projects in Australia and abroad: Our ultimate goal is to invest in creativity, fundraising activities and using initiative to improve fledgling communities so that they have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our first project is the Mama Paulina School of Hope, located in Mukuro, Kenya. This is an independent/private (Poverty-stricken) Primary School located close to the border of Tanzania and Kenya. After an initial visit in early 2012, I formulated a plan to create the H2H Quest, a fundraising initiative inviting like-minded individuals to sacrifice 6 months of their life initially to each raise a target amount of money within their school, business or social communities. By the end of December 2012 six hard-working individuals were committed and we had raised a sufficient amount of money to venture over to the school for 2 weeks in January 2013.Throughout this service-learning journey we funded our own living and transport to Kenya, assisted and funded an outdoor classroom, a permanent house to accomodate the school leaders and family supporting the school (The H2H House also serves as a home away from home for future trips to the community and ongoing support from individuals) we funded electricity to the school, 2 watertanks, new classroom resources, new blackboards, a memorial/assembly area in the heart of the school plus a variety of support projects. This quest was not only a grounding exercise, it created a sense of 'understanding' between cultures...and an engagement from our team that we 'need' to help through words..THEN...action...! This project will continue into 2013 with our ultimate goal of assisting in providing the school with the gift of self-sustainability...

Teaching Visual Arts Years 8-12, Assisting with an Education Support Drama and Arts practice mini-program. This was my first professional job following University. I had the privilege to work under two of my 'former teachers' as i attended the College as a student from Years 8-12.Both of these incredible teachers and then 'colleagues' actually inspired me to not only love teaching Art, but actually 'love' the art of teaching. I worked under the best educators in my first professional role as a teacher and followed their advice and philosophies in teaching, and most importantly, embraced the responsibility they gave me, yeah I could draw and paint, but i truly learnt how to teach from them.
