As musculoskeletal specialists, we decided to tackle one of the greatest challenges in healthcare…The burden of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs).The main problem with MSDs is not the pain or loss function, but how these disorders are handled or really mishandled. The direct cost of MSDs has reached 20 billion per year in the United States. They affect more than 1.7 billion people worldwide, and are the second leading cause of disability.Research has found that seeing a physical therapist first for musculoskeletal disorders, reduces: ER visits, opioid prescriptions, unnecessary imaging, and overall costs. But, our current healthcare system has this backwards. Instead, those suffering in pain wait to see their primary physician and only 25% go on to finally see a MSDs specialist.This is where we want to transform healthcare….The musculoskeletal specialist must be the first line of defense in treating musculoskeletal problems. And we have even gone a step further, insisting that all of our clinicians have received certification or diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT). Research has shown that this treatment approach has the best outcomes in the shortest amount of time and the mechanical assessment is more accurate than an MRI in detecting symptomatic discs.Our mission is to ensure that each of our patients:1.
