As a member of the leadership team (External Relations) and reporting to the Vice President, I provide leadership and effective management in all areas of development, staffing, administration, budgeting and project management. Possessing a strategic mindset supports my role in drafting a Strategic Resource Plan in collaboration with the Leadership Team and an Annual Plan for External Relations aligned to each of the reporting units. As a senior member of the major Gifts Team, I provide fundraising expertise and leadership to a portfolio of major gift donors. This includes working independently and closely with senior volunteers to cultivate and solicit major gifts, develop fundraising strategies, and provide stewardship to major donors. I represent the Vice President on select committees or at events, and provide critical communications between the Vice President's office and a number of internal and external stakeholders.

Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations
-
Oct 2015 - Aug 2017
As Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations I provided leadership to a 12.5M Comprehensive 5-yr Fundraising Campaign (and its volunteer Campaign Committee) and support to the institutions donor and fund development program. The Campaign was launched in July, 2015 and at the end of the second year of the 5-year campaign 87% of goal had been received in gifts and pledges. Other achievements while in my role included reworking job descriptions and mentoring staff to assume new roles which was part of a Development Department restructuring process that I led to better support the department's strategic goals and reflect best practise. As a result the department exceeded numerous previous donation income levels including: largest individual gift, total income from fundraising events, annual fund income, and total annual donation income. In addition to the financial achievements, these changes boosted the capacity of Providence and stimulated the significant growth of individual Development team members resulting in their enhanced job satisfaction. It also resulted in an increased professionalization and donor-centric approach to the development work which ultimately better supports the future and advancement of Providence.

Jan 2007 - Jun 2012
As a contributing member of the senior management team, I was responsible for leading and developing the strategic Human Resource function. My role included management and oversight of general administration practices in the company, the We Care humanitarian aid program, and the Four Corners alternative trade retail operation (closed in 2010). As a senior leader and business partner within the organization, I provided strategic leadership, expertise and support for leaders and staff in Winnipeg, Toronto, Vancouver, Peru and Bolivia, and for the CLWR Advisory Board. I led the development and implementation of annual HR programs and priorities that aligned with organizational strategic objectives including: leading the transformation of the agency’s compensation strategy from an arbitrary approach to a systematic process; developing a performance planning and review process that provided a sightline between employee and organizational goals; and implementing a safety and health program with staff representation and employee engagement. I also supported the strategic long-term plans of the organization by developing comprehensive management scenarios for the CLWR Board to respond to potential gaps in funding, including the analysis of anticipated workloads, reconfiguration of employee and management structures, and financial implications.
