Arthur Doler
The first time I worked with Sara, we had both been flexed onto a project as part of a surge to help it recover from falling behind. It was a rewrite from an application written in 1995 to a modern web framework. The software dealt with a very complex knowledge domain with a steep learning curve. These domain hurdles were made worse by having to educate the client on modern web practices. Sara immediately inserted herself into the gap between the developers and the client, working to get us definitions and explanations as much as she could. She took on the role of product manager very ably, communicating expected deliverables each sprint and communicating frequently with the client to keep them up to date on what was actually expected to be delivered that sprint or not, attempting to avoid surprises on demo day. Her positive attitude, her understanding of the complexities of software development and estimation, and her desire to see the team pulling in the same direction all made the work much more manageable than if we'd been forced to work without her. On top of that, she's very forward-leaning in terms of pushing for innovation and creativity - we're currently working together to organize a company-wide Hack Day. tl;dr - Sara is a super-capable PM/BD who's very savvy about software and software engineers, which can be very rare.
