SDALA Girls State is a leadership/citizenship program for high school girls, in which "citizens" spend the week learning about American government and politics by enacting a mock democracy. I attended in high school and have returned as a Senior Counselor for Journalism City in 2021, 2022 and 2023. My role includes leading the girls in creating and producing four 8-page tabloid newspapers covering the events, speakers and other miscellaneous stories throughout the week.
