  Changing 3.5 hectare of farmland into a regenerative forest for wildlife and carbon sink. Carefully giving natural sprouting trees and local seedlings a chance to establish themselves, from 400 trees when the changing started to more then 4600. Changing a 1600m2 island into a permaculture food forest, the planted fruit trees have grown tall enough these last years to do the final addition of the lower layers, berries, perennials, herbs and strawberries. Working towards the dream of restoring the waterwheel, so it will be a functional mill once more. The oldest foundations date back to 1019CE to 1026CE. After centuries of producing walnut oil and flour, the new challenges of the transition in energy production now calls for the mill to become an energy source. Show less

  The environment and trying to get the party to walk a more sustainable path was the main reason to join. As chairmen more doors opened to inject additions to the election program about sustainability, despite the party top who were not keen on it. And fun fact, we were the first political party to join Plastic Visschen from Plastic Whale, by boat through the Amsterdam canals to get as much plastic out of the water as possible. The other activities of my committee meant I talked with many political parties and so after the first year where we were the only party to join, the next years we were joined by Labor (PvdA), Left Green (Groenlinks) and The Animals Rights Party (PvdD). With only 50 slots a week and then the administration on top of that, there was a hard upper limit on how many people could be helped. There were larger problems with further reaching complications plaguing mankind and the world, so the older my son became the stronger the urge to shift focus on those to make this world a better place.
