This work involves brining together policymakers, trade support institutions, the private sector, and civil society together to discuss trade-related issues and to formulate solutions. I led the design of eleven strategies in sectors ranging from IT services, the creative industries, medical and wellness tourism, and cross-cutting trade support functions such as trade information, trade and investment promotion, and skills and entrepreneurship. This experience has given me a practical understanding of the issues constraining exports and investments in developing countries. • Methodology updates: Leading work on revising and updating tools and methodologies that allow the section to do its work more effectively. Methodologies I have revised include ones for trade information, trade promotion, investment promotion, and trade facilitation. I also lead section retreats and "clinics" to assist colleagues develop their knowledge and skills. • Monitoring and evaluation: Led the establishment of baselines for nine countries in the UK Trade Partnerships Programme Project.
