HWB Communications is an expert media and PR agency in Cape Town, with clients in the public sector and civil society space. I have worked across a wide range of the agency's clients since joining in 2008, and have been managing the agency's Newsroom editorial offering for the past year. My public sector experience includes media and strategic counsel on clients and projects such as Philip Morris South Africa, the City of Cape Town (including its Transport Directorate and MyCiTi Bus), the Helen Suzman Foundation, the Government Employee Pension Fund, Fidelity ADT, the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation, Ditikeni Investment Company, Community Chest of the Western Cape, Treasure Karoo Action Group, and Project 90 by 2030. At the end of 2017, I managed the media and communications for the 50th Commemoration of the World's first successful human-to-human heart transplant conference, which took place at the Groote Schuur Hospital. I managed the development and placement of content ahead of the three day conference, and managed the media who attended the event itself. I secured coverage across news and trade media, with 124 clippings at an overall estimated value of R18,2m. My work at HWB (across clients) involves developing of content and placement in the most appropriate platforms to ensure the best outcome for clients. As an experienced broadcaster and journalist, my work also involves media training, as well as counsel around crisis management. My experience in parliament has also equipped me to give expert political and strategic counsel to political and other high profile projects and lobbying initiatives I have been involved with at the agency.

I have been a member of the Cape Town Press Club since 2002, and became an elected member of its committee in 2009. I have acted as Vice Chairperson since 2011. My duties (along with those of my committee colleagues) involved the sourcing of speakers for the Club. I regularly also acted as host at these events.
