Throughout my very long career as a college admission officer in Vermont I have encountered many admission representatives from the other Vermont colleges through our work together with the Consortium of Vermont Colleges. Most of those experiences have been with people who are just passing through the career on their way to something else. Their work was acceptable but not outstanding and often short-term. This was not the situation with Brya Emery, who worked very hard on behalf of both her own institution and the Consortium of Vermont Colleges. I worked most closely with her on the CVC’s annual bus tour where she spearheaded the organization and execution of a grueling week-long tour of 18 or so of Vermont’s college campuses for out-of-state high school counselors. I watched her in action as she deftly shepherded this group of adults through a grueling, tight schedule with good humor and a remarkable ability to remember names and personalities. She kept the group on time and smiling as they moved through each day, a variety of weather situations and a range of campus programs. I have also observed her at various venues while we represented our respective institutions during our fall

Brya and I have worked together in the college admissions field for a number of years and I always found her to be a very dedicated and professional recruiter. She easily develops rapport with the people she comes in contact with and always did a great job of listening to students and trying to assist them with their questions. She has a personality and way about her that helps to put people at ease, despite the stress they might be experiencing with the college search process. I also worked with her on a number of large-scale college recruitment events and she was always someone I knew I could count on to assist with whatever tasks needed to be done. She would be an asset to any organization that was smart enough to bring her on board!
