As of August 2021, I have been one of the Resident Advisors for Village Apartments at UNC Pembroke. I oversee around 40 international and transfer students in my building. By working with students from such a diverse background, it requires me to know a lot about the resources available to students (on and off campus). At the start of the Fall 2021 semester, I began working with Maynor's Honors College, which I am a student of, to develop a new course for the 2022-23 school year. I primarily work with Dr. Tegan Decker, Dean of Maynor's Honors College, and the Faculty Honors Council to develop an outline. The one credit course will utilize UNCP's new graduation requirements about Indigenous Cultures and Communities (ICC). During my eight-week term, my team and I worked throughout Wake County to canvas prospective food distribution sites for families who live farther out of town. We distributed over 100 bagged school lunches a week to three remote mobile home parks throughout Wake County like Little River and Rolesville. At our home office, Cooperative Extension Office, my team and I constructed and assembled 600 activity kits a week to distribute to local events like the Back to School event at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh and a COVID vaccine drive in Zebulon. During my eight-week term, I worked alongside the Wake County Food Security Office with school meal distribution to the neighboring areas of Wake County. We constructed over 150 educational activity kits a week to distribute at the curbside meal distribution sites. In total, we distributed over 900 activity kits by the end of the summer term. I was in charge of overseeing and reporting the distribution of bagged meals for two apartment complexes: Pines of Ashton Apartments and Ripley Station Apartments. In total, we distributed 1,371 bagged lunches as of August 8th, 2020. When we were not at sites, I got a chance to shadow the Wake County Boys and Girls Club, Educational Food and Nutrition Education Program, and Interfaith Food Shuttle to see how their programs operate throughout the community. • Feb 2019 - Feb 2019

During my week-long internship as a Governor's Page, I was able to work in the Office of the Governor as a February 2019 Governor's Page. I collaborated with 15 other pages and officials from the Department of Public Instruction on how to improve the high school atmosphere in schools in North Carolina. I also assisted the State Archives of North Carolina with organizing Civil War registration cards in chronological order. The insight I learned from my time as a Governor's Page gave me an insight into political office life. Show less
