Working with Greg means having an extremely talented software engineer, accomplished CTO, and excellent collaborator all in one co-worker. Greg excels at designing software of many kinds, and has a superb ability to think about problems and systems at every level of technology or business. Though he would be an indispensable leader as an engineer alone, when working with Greg, he served as the critical force to drive the entire technical side of the business. He rapidly grew his expertise in data warehousing, web application development, and marketing as the co-founder and technical leader of both the Incipia marketing agency and Xyla software product. Greg is a driven leader. He has proven his ability to effectively manage and coordinate a large breadth of processes and initiatives. He oversaw all of the business's critical technology and worked hard for seamless communication with team members at each layer to keep technology, development, operations, finances, and marketing in sync. In addition, Greg is invariably organized, a careful planner, and great communicator. His personality and style encourages collaboration for planning and helps each team member build a shared perspective of each aspect of the system. His technical mastery, sharp mind, considerate ear, and attention to detail give him an outstanding ability to blueprint software ideas for each section of the business and then continuously shape and refine ideas with colleagues. Without Greg's expertise, these ideas would not be able to take shape. He is truly a valuable teammate and leader.

As both a manager and developer, Greg has the ability to see the potential in any situation. As a developer, he has clear product vision and ability to communicate that coupled with a clean coding style. No matter how undefined the task, he approaches the problem with an open mind and a readiness to find a solution. He also genuinely enjoys working and teaching others -- as a data scientist, my development knowledge was scarce at best and he was a patient and motivating teacher. Additionally, he is, by far, the most empathetic manager I have ever had. This management style fosters an unparalleled trust and understanding with those reporting to him. It was a genuine pleasure working with him and reporting to him.

      • Co-authored a modular web scraper using Python, selenium, Redshift, and Docker, supporting live code editing during a scrape and resulting in increased data accuracy, rapid scraper development, and countless reclaimed hours of drudgery for the marketers who previously had to scrape data manually. • Co-created an integrated marketing performance API using Express, and MongoDB with Netlify, ModeAnalytics, Periscope, and native BI integrations, resulting in easy and secure access to performance reports by clients and marketing managers. • Co-architected an extensible data processing framework in Python and AWS Redshift, supporting JSON data flow graph definition and resulting in client defined parsing and storage of custom properties derived from Apple, Google, Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok API data. • Co-designed a task queue and worker node system in Python and Redis resulting in scheduled marketing data fetching and automated error reporting via Papertrail. • Co-developed a data service API in Python and Flask, and S3, resulting in safe and efficient querying and automated schema customization to support auxiliary CSV data uploading to Incipia’s Redshift warehouse for marketing clients. • Co-structured a data warehouse and collection service for mobile app marketing data using Python, AWS Redshift, and Ubuntu resulting in scheduled, configurable data collection and normalizing varying currencies and performance metrics from different sources into a data cube facilitating cohorted ROAS reporting and comparison among spend channels. • Co-wrote mobile marketing channel/MMP API wrappers for Apple, Google, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, and Adjust in Python and R. • Co-constructed a mobile marketing bidding rules engine back end, using Express, socket.io, MongoDB, and Python to schedule rule-based ad entity bid, budget, and goal adjustments via Apple, Google, and Snapchat ad APIs, resulting in spend optimization even during nights and weekends and obviating continual monitoring by marketers. • Co-instituted an asymmetrically-encrypted credentials repository using Python and S3, resulting in safe delivery of encrypted client credentials via less-trusted API endpoints and restricted usage of credentials by more trusted worker nodes.
