Andrea has a unique combination of personality, passion, and smarts. She is always upbeat, has a great sense of humor, and is focused on building relationships with others. In her role, she is responsible for the ASHA Leadership Development Program. She brings a real passion to her role guiding leadership development efforts for ASHA and thinking strategically about new ways to meet members needs for programs and services. Andrea has a lot of wisdom about association management and is a savvy strategic thinker. The bottom-line: ASHA is lucky to have Andrea!

Andrea has done a marvelous job of launching and continuing to organize ASAE’s (American Society of Association Executives) idea swaps in Loudoun County, Virginia. She has created a spirit that is welcoming to all and an environment that encourages all of the professionals in attendance to share their concerns and knowledge in a safe and collegial environment. I know that I will always learn something of value when Andrea is guiding the dialogue.

ASHA is a $66 million, 228,000-member association for speech-language pathologists and audiologists. I oversee all governance-related operations including: management of the Board of Directors, volunteer cultivation efforts, ASHA’s national elections, and an annual awards program. I also train ex-officios to support approximately 40 governance and discipline-related committees. One of my biggest accomplishments at ASHA has been to create the Leadership Development Program, a year-long certificate program (it has become a cornerstone membership benefit and revenue generator). To launch the Program, I guided curricula development, module requirements, and evaluation and testing methodologies – all of which successfully secured eligibility. Since 2011, the Program has produced more than 600 graduates. In 2017, under my direction, ASHA developed and launched the Leadership Academy which is a virtual platform for all ASHA members to develop their leadership skills including on demand webinars, a leadership mentoring program, an online community, leadership assessments, a resource library and authored a toolkit so state associations have step by step instructions on how to develop and offer their own LDP to their members utilizing the free content on the Academy. Drohan is a $7.5 million full-service association management firm. At Drohan, I served as Executive Director for client American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) and smaller national associations such as (Society of Financial Examiners . At AAOMPT, I oversaw all operations with a focus on growth in membership (both retention and development) and event management. In addition to growing membership by 33%, I led a rebranding campaign, which included a website redesign that positively impacted member engagement – via integrating the AMS database with the site’s functionality. Doing so enabled members to access account information and enroll for AAOMPT programs online. Show less
