I was a volunteer on the Lockdown Leftovers Campaign. Dulcie was a fantastic individual - at a time I need motivation and support in lockdown to do something proactive, Lockdown Leftovers felt like an escape and a time to build skills that took my mind off what was happening elsewhere - I couldn't have asked for a better individual to support us. Dulcie is a very calm and considerate individual and I think she would be highly beneficial to an organisation as someone who can reason and relate to individuals and can get the best out of them like she did me. As an Autistic person and someone with mental health problems, she never compromised on how I was feeling in order to do more work or get more done. As a result I managed to motivate myself beyond expectation for this awareness for my disability - This is so valuable to an employer in ways you cannot really appreciate from a CV level. I can certainly say, if you are looking for someone to manage volunteers that are mixed in their backgrounds and skills - Dulcie would be perfect.

I worked with Dulcie as a volunteer for the People’s Plan, a project aiming to engage local communities with net zero policy making. During my time here Dulcie was the Research team lead and director, and she made a valuable contribution to the project each step of the way whilst leading a diverse team of volunteers. She is a highly driven and conscientious individual with a genuine interest in tackling climate change, and is very easy to work with. Dulcie can always be relied upon to show up and motivate others to succeed, and I believe having her on the team was a key reason for the project’s success.

Groundwork, a UK based non-profit, is mobilising practical community action on poverty and the environment. Working directly with individuals and communities, we support them to take positive action to improve their prospects, live more sustainably, and make their neighbourhoods greener and more resilient to climate change. Based remotely, my caseload consists of community volunteer projects in the London Boroughs of Waltham Forest and Kingston, as well as an urban regeneration project with CLEVER Cities in Thamesmead. I design printed and digital assets using Adobe Suite, write and edit blogs, and plan social media content using a content management platform (Sprout Social), as well as monitor analytics. The Climate Venture Collective is an entrepreneurial community, designed for people from different backgrounds, bringing a range of skills and experience, to start impactful and innovative projects to tackle climate change. Projects include tech for good, such as apps and games, as well as digital campaigns. My role has developed concurrently with the social enterprise, having streamlined and managed daily operations since it was founded in March 2020, including communications on Slack and a monthly newsletter with Mailerlite (previously Mailchimp). I design and facilitate workshops and events to introduce new members to the community and provide support in helping them become active members and empower them to bring their own ideas to the community and start their own projects. Through creating engaging content and designing a recruitment and onboarding strategy, I have increased the size of our community and attendance at workshops and events. Show less

The People's Plan is a grassroots campaign using gamification to engage marginalised communities in a localised and nationwide conversation to tackle climate change. Starting as the Operations lead, I designed and implemented a recruitment process to bring on new members and instil our culture and values at the core. I facilitated group onboarding sessions and trained others in facilitation, agenda writing, and meeting organisation I soon took on the additional role of Research lead where I led and collaborated with the team to conduct meticulous research, which included identifying 10 sustainable policies the People's Plan is built on as well as a detailed report on public engagement I completed the administration necessary to register the People's Plan as a Community Interest Company and became a Director. In this role I developed and implemented our overarching strategy to support our mission as well as to engage and mobilise volunteers. Show less

I progressed quickly in this role, from freelance writer to Newsletter Editor, to Editorial Coordinator and then Media & Communications Coordinator. As a freelance writer, I submitted mostly short form articles and blog posts, and occasionally longer pieces. I carried out research on climate issues, received critical feedback and worked to improve my writing skills. As the Newsletter Editor, I continued writing articles but also took on the lead for producing the monthly newsletter. I grew the subscribers from fewer than 1000 to nearly 5000 in less than a year, by producing informative, engaging, and fresh content, and collaborating with the Social Media team to promote new editions. As the Editorial Coordinator, I further honed my research and writing skills. Researching, writing, and editing articles, blog posts, social media content with a climate impact focus, and engaging and empowering messaging. I collaborated with the Messaging team to develop our narrative and campaign strategy and led my team to implement it seamlessly and effectively. As the Media and Communications Coordinator, I led teams to deliver our campaign strategy, engage members. I facilitated weekly meetings to ideate on creative campaigns, fundraisers, and writing themes. I led content writing workshops to develop the teams’ skills and confidence. I also created a community mobilisation strategy and recruitment process. Show less
