Sep 2014 - Sep 2015
As a current community health educator at the Tucson Indian Center I maintain the vision of TIC to lead, serve, empower and advocate for the Tucson Urban Indian Community and others, by providing culturally appropriate wellness and social services. By job duties include planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities and events for the TIC Youth Coalition and other youth, adults and elders regarding aspects of a healthy lifestyle, including the cessation of commercial tobacco use, chronic disease self-management, and substance abuse prevention. In addition to this I design and distribute the TIC monthly newsletter titled "Native Wellness Voice." Show less

May 2014 - Aug 2014
During the summer of 2014 I worked with the Native American Research and Training Center (NARTC) to assist director Teshia, Solomon, PhD to develop a Native American Public Health Course that will be offered under the University of Arizona's College of Medicine. I also had the opportunity to be a counselor at two youth camps; NARTC’s Annual Youth Wellness Camp at Whispering Pines in Prescott, AZ and at the Hualapai Youth Camp on the Hualapai Reservation. Both camps were for Native American youth at risk for diabetes and focused on diabetes prevention. Show less

Jan 2012 - May 2014
For 2 years I was an intern at the University of Arizona’s Campus Health facility on the 2012 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) Suicide Prevention Grant. At CHS I worked to reduce the incidence of suicide, suicide attempts, and their related risk factors among students at the University of Arizona through media development and outreach, social outreach, and training workshops with a special focus on at risk populations such as LGBTQ, Veterans, and American Indians.
