Designed and implemented daemon process that used to execute tasks in remote machines, performs file IO and interacts with the operating system. Provided implementations for Sun Solaris Unix, HP Unix, IBM Unix, Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. Designed and developed database access middleware used to create tables, drop tables, create indexes, execute queries, insert and update data. Developed API providing objects to hide query language and database access from users. System was designed to be database independent and tolerant of database modification. XML documents were used to store all table and field metadata to allow update of structure to have minimal effect on code using it. System was used to interact with SQLServer, Oracle and IBM UniData databases. Implemented process to copy 6+ gigabytes of database records from server at corporate headquarters to client sites. Process designed to be fault tolerant and resume from last checkpoint without having to restart in case of being interrupted.Designed and implemented generic task architecture used to run multiple tasks and subtasks in a chronological order for installer system. Interfaces where created to provide other programmers ability to write needed task processing. Task architecture loosely coupled with SWING progress bar/dialog to provide a GUI to task execution.Developed extensions to application server software to perform server side processing.Enhanced security middleware to be able to load client certificates to have client authenticated SSL sockets used to transfer secure data to government agencies.Implemented Windows DLL's in Visual C++ so Java applications could interface with Windows Registry and Windows Event Log.Worked in area of design, construction and internal and external support of SA-Valet, desktop application. Stepped up to fill designer role in a time of need.
