As a machine learning lead at Xanadu Quantum Technologies, I'm helping to build out an applied machine learning team tasked with tackling our partners' most pressing business challenges. Whether it's via one of our existing AI products, development of a hybrid classical/quantum solution, or AI professional services, Xanadu provides our customers with solutions to their problems now while preparing them for the imminent arrival of quantum AI.

Led a product development team of data scientists in the roles of product owner, project manager, scrum master, lead developer, and lead data scientist. Our product was a software toolkit facilitating the validation of machine learning models covering aspects of model interpretability, stability, and fairness. The package, written in Python, was developed in collaboration with the enterprise model risk management team and was deployed enterprise wide. The first use case following the initial release of the package saw a reduction in model validation time by 25%. Show less

I led a team in commissioning a new detector system for fundamental research. We identified several deficiencies in the current design via a program of systematic measurements and simulations, and will be preparing a scientific article shortly summarizing our findings. I was the primary responsible for the ongoing development of the software, written in Python, which integrates the various control systems of the experiment with the data acquisition system. This system is now much more robust than when it was initially conceived, and important functionality has been added as well. I created a simulation program, written in C++, to model the microscopic behaviour of our detector signals and generate simulated data to determine the optimal operational parameters of the system based on our specific goals. During this time I have continued to pursue my own independent line of research and have successfully completed two experiments at the Tri-University Meson Facility (TRIUMF). Show less

As a postdoctoral researcher working on the WITCH project at CERN I helped refine and improve the existing experimental setup prior to taking a large data set. Following the experiment I was responsible for developing cleaning and analysis software in ROOT and C/C++, and led the investigations that resulted in the successful interpretation of this data set. My interpretation of the data following the analysis, bolstered by additional Monte Carlo studies, suggested a deficiency in the main detector, and I devised and executed dedicated measurements that verified and quantified this important systematic effect. In parallel I developed my own line of research having conceived, proposed, and had accepted three experiments at the Tri-University Meson Facility (TRIUMF) in Vancouver, B.C. Show less
