Atlanta Metropolitan Area Discovery is an engaging Saturday morning enrichment program that offers STEAM, SEL, Fitness, and Health activities to metro Atlanta’s K-5 youth. Discovery is Hands On Atlanta’s longest-running program and offers community volunteers a meaningful and interactive service experience. Hands On Atlanta partners with over 10 Title 1 elementary schools, serving nearly 1,000 students a school year. The program operates, on average, two Saturdays a month September-May. In addition to fun and educational activities, all students receive breakfast and take-home snacks at each Discovery session. • Promote and conduct outreach for Discovery, our Saturday enrichment program, to increase student participation and assist in curriculum development. • Attend Discovery and engage with community volunteers up to 10 Saturdays over the school year. This includes helping with volunteer recruitment and recognition, sign-in, lesson facilitation, and student support. • Coordinate and support volunteers during national and local days of service, including MLK Day and Hands On Atlanta Day. Submit timely progress reports of student data using Hands On Atlanta’s internal software and assist in collecting broader student data sets as needed. • Foster meaningful and productive relationships with students, teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, school officials, and parents.
