Stevie Watts, what can I say? Whether that be his daily coffee, giant lunchtime soup, or QA abilities, Steve always gave his 100%. On his desk you'd find a wide array of items, including but not limited to, a Columbo DVD Box Set, Whitney Houston's "Whitney" on cassette, and a VHS player. Every pixel matters to Steve, his keen eye doesn't miss a thing. One of my greatest achievements was receiving an office wide speech and a free chocolate bar when Steve didn't find anything wrong with a piece of my work. Since working with Steve, we have stayed in touch, mainly with me visiting him at the bar he currently works. He continue to gives 100%, always collecting glasses efficiently and expanding my beer knowledge with everything he has learnt at Northern Monk.

Steve is tenacious, pedantic, and proud of the work he does. Steve is also a polymath, with many other skills and talents. These make Steve a prime QA guy. Steve leads QA across the agency. His tireless, ungrudging efforts have ensured QA is something is that is valued within the agency and is also seen as needed, not just at an acceptance stage but also throughout a project's lifecycle. There can be no greater recommendation. He also makes a mean morning coffee.

As sole QA for two teams with eight clients between them, work frequently shifts across a range of responsibilities. This includes the testing of newly deployed functionalities (inc. API testing), smoke and regression tests following back-end changes, creating test plans, scripts and test data for upcoming deployments, updating existing scripts, documenting larger releases, liaising with clients on issues and queries, and helping other teams in the business. All projects feature a customer-facing front-end, via app and/or website, and a client-friendly CMS.

I coordinated and carried out the manual testing of software updates to LNER’s retail channels, liaising regularly with the multiple product owners and software suppliers. The retail channels (ticket machines, station counters, train guard kits, call centre systems, commercial website and mobile app) each had their own bespoke software (and suppliers), all interacting with different versions of our content databases. Issues were managed over multiple Jira boards. Due to Government-mandated standards, we operated across four staging environments, and testing evidence, documentation and test data were vital to my output.

Ensuring that products leaving our Web Development and Creative teams are to agreed standards across a variety of disciplines and platforms. Our products include complete e-commerce websites, micro sites, e-shots, blog articles and mobile/tablet applications, and as such a robust system of checks across a variety of platforms and operating systems is required.Brands I've worked on include: Asda, Waitrose, Thorntons, Wensleydale Creamery, Interflora, Curvissa, B&Q, Screwfix, Sky Bet, Parkdean Holidays, Jet2 + Jet2Holidays, Bon Marche, JD Williams, Roche, Tetley Tea and many more.

Shortly after starting with the company I was asked if I was able to write travel and sports content, which it turned out I was capable of doing alongside my Social Media responsibilities.Though the majority of my time was in Social Media, around 10-15 hours a week were spent writing. This included writing for articles, advertising copy, websites, technical back-end, emails and social media content.I’ve been involved in Content Strategies at a variety of stages, from early conceptual levels of deciding content themes and direction right up to liaising with bloggers for Link Building and uploading articles to client blogs (a daily task during this period).Since taking on QA as my primary role within the company, my Copywriting responsibilities have dropped off considerably. However, when the need arises and my schedule permits, I'm still tasked with writing jobs (recently working with First Bus, Meadowhall and Asda).

The day-to-day's of this role included monitoring multiple communities, proposing concepts, direction of content and dialogue tone, sourcing and writing content into client-friendly documents, and the uploading/scheduling of posts. Customer queries were directed either to Account Managers or our own direct Customer Service channels, depending on the client. Community sizes varied, with our most popular being 80,000+ right down to fledgling businesses of a few hundred fans. I was involved in the behind-the-scenes of much pitch work, from initial idea sessions to proof-reading client presentations, providing brand competitor social media analysis to suggestions for tone and types of content. To a varying degree of detail, most of our clients received regular reports which I would collate based on a pre-agreed range of data.
