I went to school with Matt at Annapolis and then worked with him at FreshDirect years later. For as long as I have known him, he has been recognized as a natural leader, with an innate ability to engage and motivate the people around him. At FreshDirect, he leveraged his vast knowledge of logistics operations to create and put into effect several highly beneficial procedures, and some of his ideas were still being put into effect even after he left the Company to relocate his family to Delaware. Matt came into FreshDirect with a positive attitude and a constant willingness to go the extra mile, both for the good of the organization and for the immediate benefit of the people around him.

During Matthew's brief tenure with Fresh Direct, he demonstrated a combination of people leadership, business acumen, and problem solving skills that I have rarely seen. Matthew was tasked with helping to implement significant process change in one of our critical operations. He demonstrated strong change management skills along with the foresight to understand downstream impacts. It is with pleasure that I recommend Matthew.

Although he grew up in New Jersey, Matt is a southerner by choice, having called North Carolina home for six of the last eight years. He and his family fell in love with the Raleigh-Durham area two years ago and after a brief stint in Georgia decided it was time to move back and stay put. Matt graduated from the US Naval Academy and served as an officer in the Marine Corps. While deployed to Afghanistan, Matt worked with local businesses to negotiate contracts and complete construction projects, and he enjoyed building relationships in the local community. This is what excites him most about real estate – being able to connect with people and help them achieve their goals. Matt and his wife Molly live in Durham with their baby daughter and twin boys. They are active in their church, CityWell, and love the community they’ve built here in Durham. In Matt’s free time you can find him chasing his kids on local playgrounds, building things out of pallet wood, and working on his motorcycle. Show less
