Paul was a partner in the corporate team specialising in M&A, general corporate matters, joint ventures and group reorganisations. He was also experienced in private equity, including MBOs and MBIs. Paul was part of the firm's energy group and acted on a number of renewable energy projects, including joint venture arrangements and investments (including wind, energy from waste, solar, biomass and hydro). He had particular experience in the acquisition and disposal of onshore and offshore wind farm projects. Paul also also had extensive experience on transactions in the hospitality and leisure industry, with particular expertise in those involving multiple site portfolios involving betting shops and other licensed premises. Experience included: • acting for a Bristol based mobile and internet business on a first round equity investment • advising West Coast Energy on joint venture arrangements in respect of various on-shore wind farm developments • acting for Coral Racing on over 50 share and business transactions (both multi and single site acquisitions) • negotiating a joint venture agreement for the development of a portfolio of energy from waste projects • advising Copart, Inc's UK subsidiary Copart UK Limited on its acquisition of D Hales Limited • advising Npower Renewables Limited on its acquisition of 50% of Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds Limited • advising Pebble Hotels on the acquisition by Pebble of hotels from Punch Taverns including associated shareholder arrangements • assisting Countrywide Farmers plc on a series of business transactions for the acquisition of country retail stores as part of its ongoing growth strategy • advising one of the UK's Research Council's on a shareholders' and joint venture agreement in relation to a joint venture development and ongoing research operation on one of its sites.
