As a Graduate Researcher, I have been able to work on a project that aligns with my interest in Robotics and Human-Robot Interaction. I first began my role by familiarizing myself with the system architecture of a small ground vehicle robot named "Dani". Dani is an autonomous robot designed for pushing methods applicable in a variety of industries. This Dani robot utilizes Robot Operating System (ROS) middleware to allow for synchronized communication between various system components. My past work with the Dani includes verifying the accuracy of a webcam system used for localization of the robot. Show less

As an undergraduate researcher, I was able to exercise crucial Research and Development skills such as proposal writing, conducting literature reviews, and providing project updates through presentations. During my time at Shan Research Group, I was able to receive an NSF-EPSCoR grant to support a summer of research after authoring and submitting a proposal. Additionally, I had the opportunity to lead a group of undergraduate researchers in developing a gripping device applicable in the field of Soft Robotics and Manufacturing. The experimental research conducted was the redesign of an in-house manufacturing method for the microelectromechanical (MEMS) gripping device. I was able to provide hands on training to two of my peers in fabricating samples of the device in Lab. My peers and I evaluated the change of friction in the gripping device interface using a tribometer scratch test. Show less

In my position as Industrial Engineering lntern at Randa Logistics, I provided support to all departments of the distribution center in enhancing and maintaining production rates. The warehouse was composed of Shipping, Receiving, Stocking, Pulling, Reworking, and Scanning departments. On an everyday basis, I worked to identify "bottle necking" issues in these departments to produce solutions for each unique issue. Solutions were implemented by revamping Standard Operating Procedures to eliminate redundant and unnecessary steps completed by the operator. The environment of an operator was also a component that was addressed and redesigned when possible. As necessary, I proposed the acquisition of additional resources to increase production. An example of this was when the company acquired two automated pallet wrappers after I provided management with a presentation style proposal. The presentation represented a Summer project at Randa where I dedicated my time to studying a demo of the automated pallet wrapper. I was the main point of contact for the supplier during this equipment acquisition. Additionally, I performed thorough and accurate time studies on many warehouse procedures to create awareness on specific "low-production" orders and to report cost summaries to the Engineering Department located at Headquarters in Louisiana. Constant communication with higher level management and the Chief Logistics Officer was of utmost importance to my role. This was especially true during two different cycles where I did not have an on-site mentor due to changes in the Lead Engineering role. This was a great learning experience for me as I took on many responsibilities in the Small Engineering department at the Sparks location. Show less
