  Candlelighters is a great Yorkshire-based charity supporting children with cancer and their carers. Over my 11 years as a trustee the charity grew from a small grant making charity with 1 full time member of staff to over 30 members of staff delivering direct services to families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire. During my time as a trustee, i was involved in many roles on behalf of the board. These included leading on the provision of technology on the wards, rebranding the charity, fundraising and overall marketing strategy. The last 6 years as a Trustee I was the chair of family support, leading for the board on the development of the family support strategy and expansion of services. During this time the service expanded greater to include the Square (a drop in centre for families), The Cottage (a home for home) and the development of peer support and different services for siblings, parents and the wider family group.
