  The thesis was carried out toward fulfilment of the graduate program. The thesis reported on the development of a model catalyst with thermo-responsive polymers(PNIPAM) and investigation of the effect of polymer brush growth on the CO chemisorption diffusion. The model catalyst consists of palladium supported on alumina with a layer of membrane functionalised with thermo-responsive polymer brushes. This project mainly focused on synthesis and characterisation - AFM and ATR-IR techniques - of the functionalised membrane and understanding the influence of brush thickness and membrane pores sizes on the diffusion of the probe molecule.
