Research Intern

Worked as a research intern as a part of the Social good Data Incubator program. I worked alongside academic researchers, computer scientists and stake holders on a data intensive research project, "Open Sidewalk graph for Accessible routing". The project involved :  Created an open source software package that denoises data types common for sidewalks - latitude/longitude segments, shapefiles, OSM and algorithmically connects sidewalks, curb-ramps to each other and across streets using QGIS and PostGIS.  Created python scripts to fetch sidewalks data as JSON from SDOT and also converted them to Geojson, to aid visualization and working on QGIS.  Utilized pgRouting to create a routable map using sidewalks, curb ramps and streets information, with distance as a cost function.  Fetched data from Google Elevation and streets API. Integrated Curb ramp, Cross walk, slope and construction data to annotate sidewalks. Evaluated success based on coverage of algorithms and errors fixed. Show less
