The work I am doing as a Professional Engineer with G&A includes managing all aspects of various land development projects for a number of municipalities in southeastern Pennsylvania. I use AutoCAD Civil 3D on a daily basis to design and modify site layout, demolition, erosion control, grading, drainage, and utility plans. I also use Hydraflow Hydrographs and Storm Sewers regularly to complete stormwater design and reports in accordance with local and state regulations. Another of my responsibilities at G&A is to perform land development reviews on behalf of the municipalities we represent.

      • Feb 2013 - Aug 2017

The work I performed as a Design Engineer with RJOC included: performing intricate engineering computations and designs, attending public hearings for local boards and commissions, and performing site evaluations and inspections for compliance with plans and local, state, and federal regulations. Additional responsibilities included: preparing and revising numerous initial site selection studies, conceptual site layout designs, and bid, permit, and construction plans, specifications, and documents. I became highly proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and Hydraflow Storm Sewers to design grading and drainage plans and perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and computations associated with preparing stormwater reports, stormwater pollution prevention plans, and operation and maintenance plans for projects ranging from residential home improvements to 100+ acre commercial sites. I attended public hearings for the construction of a 100,000 square foot office building, and performed construction phase project management duties for the project. In October of 2015 I passed the Massachusetts Soil Evaluator Exam, and conducted soil evaluations for numerous multiple projects throughout Massachusetts. In May of 2017 I passed the MA Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam, and continued preparing designs and performing computations with a senior engineer reviewing my work prior to submission.

      • Nov 2011 - Feb 2013

The work I performed as an Engineer in Training with RJOC included: printing and binding plans and reports, participating in field survey crews, and performing stormwater pollution prevention plan inspections for compliance with plans and local, state, and federal regulations. My initial training at RJOC consisted of performing plan and calculation markups to become comfortable with the engineering programs used on a daily basis. After this familiarization phase, I began making plan set revisions and performing minor engineering design calculations under the expert guidance of my mentors and supervisors. Over the course of the next year, the calculations increased in complexity until I was comfortable performing calculations on my own.

I also inspected, calculated, and certified payment for pipe runs, inlet and geotextile placement, excavation, backfill, and subbase installation. Additional responsibilities included: overseeing and writing Field Inspector Diary write-ups for brick sewer pipe lining, concrete deck pours using a concrete pump and Bidwell and Gomaco paving equipment, and placement of 100 foot girders. Finally, I reviewed and organized engineering plans, modified plans, special revision plans, and RC standards.

      • May 2009 - Aug 2009

The work I performed as a Summer Intern with the Marlborough DPW included: using an Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) to locate detention basins, testing the integrity and usability of old water gates and fire hydrants to determine whether they needed replacement, and attending Traffic Commission and Site Plan meetings. I also conducted traffic studies, including placement of traffic counters, testing of traffic signals, and inspection of intersection signage. Additionally, I observed the construction of bridges and roads, including demolition of bridge decks, both superstructure and substructure, grading and paving of streets, reclaiming operations, construction and adjustment of drainage systems, sewer and water infrastructure, and compaction tests.
