Bio
Elizabeth Bucher, M.Ed.
I have had the privilege of working with with Danielle in the classroom and observing her teaching throughout her tenure at Mary McDowell Friends School. As an assistant teacher, Danielle frequently provided support to small groups and individual students in my 6th grade homeroom and current events classes. It is not an easy thing to be dropped into another teacher’s classroom, but Danielle did so professionally and competently. Her ability to quickly understand the objective of the lesson, analyze the materials, and tailor her approach to the students with whom she was working was nothing short of remarkable. She asked intelligent questions, clarifying as needed, and offered suggestions pre and post lesson that enhanced our work together. I trusted her with a wide-range of students, and knew no matter how significant the needs or challenging the behavior, Danielle would be able to support the students effectively. As a head teacher, Danielle was able to use her finely-honed observational skills to assess a group’s collective strengths and weaknesses, and apply that knowledge in order to adapt instructional materials and delivery methods to meet a wide-range of learning needs. Her creativity and command of content shined in her history and homeroom curricula, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that students not only knew the information, but truly understood it. Danielle was skilled at task analysis, scaffolding a particular skill in order to help a student reach higher levels of critical thinking in both written work and class discussions. Danielle was able to utilize information garnered from multiple sources, from psychoeducational evaluations to weekly quizzes, to make instructional choices and could communicate her thinking to administration, parents and colleagues with ease. Danielle would truly be an asset to any educational institution, both as a collaborative team member and leader. I would jump at the chance to work with her again!

I worked with Danielle for two years. She is one of the most versatile and flexible teachers I have ever worked with. She is also uniquely attuned to the social and emotional needs of her students, which is invaluable when teaching students with learning disabilities. Also, she sought out support and advice when she needed them and then quickly integrated. Whether you are considering Danielle as a classroom teacher, specialist or for 1:1 support, you can't go wrong. I miss working with her and hope we find our way back to the same school eventually.
