As Bandleader, it is my duty that we create exquisite carnival costumes with explosives themes and productions to match! “It’s Time to “Raise the Bar!” In a speech at Syracuse University in the early ‘60s Martin Luther King entitled his remarks, “It’s time to do the right thing!” As a champion of human right and inclusiveness, Dr.King wanted the student body to understand that there are times when we need to work together and “Raise the Bar”. For we the 2nd Generation of West Indian Immigrants, it is time we need to work together and raise the bar by addressing the diversity in our community and creating an exquisite experience that we gallivant and explore the new splendor we call home “Brooklyn”. Bringing together, a dynamic group of mostly creative and innovative individuals under 30, different points of views and focusing on key “Detailz” to bring forth a successful mas presentation from year to year . Knowing where to look and knowing how to recruit a diverse team of section leaders, Detailz Mas, among others took steps to improve diversity and is now an Award Winning Costume Band within 2 Years of inception!
