The Community Garden Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing operations of the Fairfield Food Forest, a permaculture garden in Robert Porter Park. The Coordinator successfully engages the public in the Food Forest through educational initiatives and opportunities to participate in the care and harvest of plants. The Coordinator effectively recruits and manages volunteers, undertakes all communications regarding the Fairfield Food Forest, and fulfils the obligations of the City of Victoria’s Terms of Reference for the Community Garden Volunteer Coordinator grant. If other community gardens are developed in Fairfield Gonzales, the Coordinator may take on similar responsibilities in support of those gardens. - Lead the co-ordination of volunteers for the Fairfield Food Forest - Lead communications for the Fairfield Food Forest (email, web, social media, print) - In consultation with the FGCA Community Garden Committee, plan and implement seasonal and long-term objectives for the Fairfield Food Forest - Implement programming in the Food Forest for FGCA and external programs and user groups - Offer educational opportunities for the public related to the Fairfield Food Forest and other food security topics - Work with the City of Victoria on food security initiatives (e.g. Get Growing program) - Report on activities as required Show less
