It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Mike Lohle as a business school colleague. Mike's dedication as an educator is exemplary, as evidenced by his ability to impart his vast knowledge of the management discipline as well as data analytics to his students in a tangible, accessible, real-world manner. Mike has a tremendous breadth and depth of knowledge and skills across myriad subject matter areas, including organizational strategy, project management, technology management, data science/analytics, and business intelligence. He has a pedagogical range that enables him to teach an undergraduate introductory course at the appropriate level, and seamlessly pivot to an advanced graduate level course that requires greater complexity and application. Moreover, Mike is able to create a relevant educational experience with both business school students as well as engineering/technology management students (sometimes class sections are also comprised of both audiences together). Mike is not only an expert in his field, he is also a skilled and creative instructional designer. Mike does a wonderful job developing educational content, facilitating clarity and comprehension, logically scaffolding topics to create relevance and ‘the big picture’, and ensuring the students know how to confidently use information and tools accurately in different contexts.

Mike is world class teacher and instructional designer promoting excellence in the classroom, whether the classroom is in person or online. His teaching effectiveness ranked consistently among the highest. Mike's drive and leadership out of the classroom is equally as impressive. Mike takes any task to completion in the best way possible, communicating effectively through the entire process. Application examples can be creating academic programs such as our UB Analytics program, which is now ranked one of the highest, or creating new partnerships for the university such as our IBM Academic initiative or our SAS initiative. While his skills are impressive my recommendation would be remiss without stating the person Mike is. Mike is the a true team player and a caring, compassionate human bringing his best to every situation.
