The Supply review and recommendations included; the consolidation of 3 Plants, to 2; improved sugar processing efficiencies; a full investment review; and a strategic review of the none-core business. Avana Bakeries has been a major, innovative supplier to the UK cake, desserts and Christmas market for many years with 82% of its business with M&S and the remainder with all other retailers. With total sales of £54M it had a core staff of over 700 personnel, rising to 1200 at its seasonal peak from Sept to Dec each year. The role reported to the Operations Director for Brookes Avana. I was responsible for the 11 managers on the senior site team spread across the 3 factories in South Wales and responsible for setting the operational strategy for the site and the day to day delivery of it. During my time there I played an integral role in ensuring that the site was sold smoothly, as part of the Premier Foods divesting process. I left the business after the sale from Premier Foods to 2 Sisters Food Group. Show less

I held the role of Manufacturing Director on the Main Board and during my time I absorbed the responsibilities of the Technical and Procurement Director roles which were made redundant. The business produced approx. 1200 tonnes (approx. 600k units) of ready meals a week across its 2 UK sites for M&S, Iceland, Tesco’s, Asda, J. Sainsbury’s, W. Morrison’s and a significant co-pack supplier for Birds Eye, Findus, Aunt Bessie’s, airline meals, the Ministry of Defence and Quorn. The sites employed approx. 700 employees and I reported into the Chief Executive Officer. I was responsible for all operational and supply chain activities including procurement and external storage and logistics. I left the business post sale amicably. Show less
